Unlike other companies that apply one level of auto-correction to an entire film project, we correct each section requiring color or exposure correction separately. • Slides & Negative Scanning- We scan all 35mm slides and negatives using Digital ICE4 Advanced Film Scanning technology, which uses infrared technology to optically remove most if not all surface debris, such as dust and scratches, resulting in very clean, high-quality digital files. We also scan at an optical resolution sufficient to enlarge to up to a 16 X 20 size at good print quality. Our scanning resolutions range from 1500 dpi to 4000 dpi, resulting in finished images that are 5-13 times better resolution than digitization processes which capture at 300 dpi.
• Print Scanning Loose print scanning can be fraught with quality issues, such as dust streaking and color distortion. We are diligent about checking the scan quality of each image to ensure high-quality scans, often rescanning images to ensure the final images meet our quality standards.

Experience your film in full resolution! Our high-definition frame-by-frame film capture offers resolution gains of 500% over a standard definition capture. Our HD capture is not a mere up-conversion from a standard definition source, but uses a high definition image sensor that takes in 5 times the square pixels per frame of film than standard definition equipment.

Why a High-Definition transfer?

Film has a random grain pattern, which means that the “grain” or pixels of film are in a totally different place from one film frame to the next. These random grains each carry a bit of the detail that makes up the complete picture and, at running speed the random grains overlap each other on the retina of your eye to significantly increase the amount of apparent detail that you can’t get from a single frame of film. This is called “accumulative resolution”. For 8mm films, the HD image sensor generates greater than 4000 pixels per square inch. The accumulative resolution effect found in film can be more readily seen in an HD transfer than in an SD (standard-definition) transfer. The number of pixels is so great and the pattern so insignificant that HD presents like a fine silk stocking compared to the burlap weave of SD. This means that your films have the opportunity to be represented digitally in such a way that when you see the films on an HDTV or HD projector, they will be of much greater quality to what you would be able to experience with an SD transfer,  as well as a much greater quality than when projecting the films using a projector for the particular film medium (8 mm, 16 mm).
