What’s included:
- Meeting with you to discuss the details of your project. If you’ve mailed your material, we’ll call you for details.
- Scanning your photos & applying professional imaging work
- Dusting & scanning your photos, slides and negatives to create excellent quality digital replicas of the original media. Read about scanning resolution options and photo file formats
- Applying professional imaging work to every scan, ensuring color, exposure and overall quality match or exceed that of the original.
- We also rotate your scanned images to the correct orientation and crop to the image border
- Creating a basic photo slideshow of your digital images at a single, consistent duration of your choosing with fade transitions between photos and an opening title screen
- One low-resolution preview file of your slideshow to review for correctness.
- One original copy of your photo slideshow as an MP4 digital video file or on a playable disc, plus JPEG files to your drive.
- For playable discs, customizing the disc and case label with a photo you provide or a frame shot from your footage, and a title of your choice. View Disc Sample Image.
Your original materials are returned to you with your finished project. All photo work is done by our professionally trained staff in our local lab.
Note: Drive not included in digitization prices. “Imaging” does not include digitally restoring and/or repairing damage, with the exception that color and exposure issues associated with normal photo fading are almost always corrected unless color/exposure distortion is extreme. Digital restoration and repair is available as an additional service and is billed at $90.00/hour.
Preparing for Your Slideshow Project Appointment
- Select the prints, slides, negatives, documents, memorabilia, and digital pictures you would like included in your slideshow.
- Organize the selected images by date, subject or any other system you prefer. It can also work well to select an initial image and a final image, and ask us to place the rest of the images into the slideshow randomly. We will follow whatever organization you provide, or if you don’t provide an order, we can either place them into the slideshow randomly or follow the order in which you provide them (see below regarding numbering the images to keep them in order).
- If the order of the images is critical, number each image to help us keep them in order. Number the prints and slides on the backs or mounts, and number digital images by renaming the files to include a three digit number (001, 002, etc). Keeping photos in the order provided is standard protocol, however we can only guarantee the order if individual images are numbered in order by you. Use a pencil or grease pencil to number photos. Avoid numbering with ink or marker that can smudge or copy onto other photos.
- Decide on the resolution for any photos that we will be scanning.
Identify digital pictures that could benefit from our basic imaging work. The digital picture rate assumes the images were produced by a digital camera (or cell phone camera) and do not need photo correction. If your digital pictures need cropping and/or color and exposure correction to look their best in the production, please be sure to let us know you’d like to add basic imaging.
- Decide on options to enhance your production. For example, you can add music, text, motion effects, a menu and more. You can also vary the duration of select images, add custom transitions or effects, or insert video clips. Our professional editors can create just the production you envision.
- Select an opening title. “Congratulations Anna & Paul! August 16, 2025″, “Congratulations Max! Class of 2025” are a couple of examples.
- Decide on whether you would like your slideshow as an MP4 digital video file or on a playable disc. For playable disc projects, or if you are adding a customized USB case, select a title and provide a photo for the cover and/or disc label.
- Think about how many copies you’ll need. We recommend purchasing an archive copy on disc or a drive that can be stored for safekeeping.
- Get started – pick a location to drop off your media and book an appointment, or simply stop by a location that accepts walk-ins.

Any print item that is not a standard loose print may need to be hand-scanned, including mounted photos, fragile or torn photos, multi-page brochures, etc. Please note, odd shaped photos requiring a custom crop, or photos requiring special cleaning and/or handling (e.g. particularly fragile or multi-piece paper items, removing photos from frames), may be subject to additional charges.

Any negatives that are not 35mm format and any slides that are not in a standard 2”x2” mount need to be hand-scanned, such as 1”x1” mounted slides, 110 negatives and glass mounted slides. Please note, slides and negatives requiring special cleaning (e.g. moldy slides) and/or handling (e.g. removing slides from mounts, warped slides, Advantix or Viewmaster Disc), may be subject to additional charges. Scanning resolution of hand-scan slides and negatives will be adjusted depending on original size to achieve final digital photo resolution equivalent to 35mm slides scanned at these resolutions.

PREVIEW
We offer a range of options to help you view your media before or after digitizing so you can decide which items to digitize, put your photos in order, or give us instructions for your photo slideshow production:
- Preview onsite: Select locations offer a light table and loupe free for use in the lobby. Viewing slides and negatives on a light table can be a handy way to determine content, make choices for your project, and put slides in order before digitizing. We sometimes have donated slide projectors available to borrow–there is no charge to borrow a donated projector but we do not warranty the condition. Use them at your own risk and expense, e.g. if a bulb needs to be replaced, etc.
- The beauty of digital files: After we scan your images, pick up your digital photo files to conveniently review and re-order at home. Then, just rename the digital photo files with a three digital number (001, 002, 003, etc) to organize them into the order you want them in for your slideshow. See Preparing for Your Slideshow Project Appointment above.
- In-house preview: Once your photos are digitized but before we create your slideshow, select locations offer the option to view your digital pictures in-store, in our software. Our software makes it easy to sort digital images into order for your photo slideshow or review your photos in detail to provide editing instructions. $39.95 for the first hour, $19.95/hour thereafter, plus the cost of any editing or enhancements. Please note, an in-house preview does not save you the cost of converting your photos.
- Need to review your slideshow project before we finalize it? No problem! Included in the price of our Basic Slideshow, we can upload a low-res version of your slideshow production and share it via the cloud for you to review for correctness. Slideshow pricing includes one low-res preview file. Additional previews $16.95 per upload.
ORGANIZE
While we don’t know your family and can’t put your photos into order for you, we can help with re-ordering images per your instructions, and we offer a range of options to help better organize your final digital photo archive. To help organize your slideshow, add text screens, scene breaks or a menu to help viewers find what they want to watch and identify the contents.
- Custom Folder System: Organize your photos and slides into groups by date, subject or any other system you prefer. We will follow whatever organization you provide and organize your digital photos accordingly into a custom folder system. Folders with a 5-7 word folder name are free for groups of 20 or more digital images, add $1.95 per folder for groups of < 20 digital images.
- Sorting and Re-Ordering: Using your instructions we can sort and re-order originals or digital photos into the correct slideshow order $90/hour of editing time.
- Custom File Names or Text On Images: Custom name each file for $1.95/file for 1-10 word short file names.
- Text Screens: Add a text screen before or on a photo or group of photos in a slideshow. $4.95/1-5 words, 6+ words or text over a photo $6.95/10 words. Scroll long-format text $90/hour of editing time.
- Scene breaks and additional MP4 exports: Add scene break markers within a slideshow MP4 file so you can jump ahead easily to the start of sections, or export select sections of your slideshow production as a standalone MP4. Exporting a section with clear, accurate start/end time codes is $9.95/MP4 export. For scene break markers within an MP4, add $29.95 to the slideshow price plus $1.95/per marker for sections with clear, distinct breaks or accurate start/end time codes. Add $90/hour for us to find the location of sections within a slideshow if not provided accurate time codes for the placement of markers.
- Disc Menu: Add a menu to your slideshow disc so you can navigate by chapter to specific sections. Chapters are also listed on the back cover of the disc case (there is no text in the footage). Slideshow price plus $19.95 for 1-6 chapters, $4.95/add’l chapter. Add $90/hour for us to place chapter breaks if not provided accurate time codes for the placement of chapters. “Press Play” menu screen $14.95/disc.
EDIT
When you order our Scan, Imaging + Slideshow service, the price includes applying professional imaging work to every image we scan, ensuring color, exposure and overall quality match or exceed that of the original. We also rotate your scanned images to the correct orientation and crop to the image border. For images you provide as digital pictures, the rate assumes the images were produced by a digital camera (or cell phone camera) and do not need correction. If your digital pictures need cropping and/or color and exposure correction to look their best in the production, please be sure to let us know Adding basic imaging work for digital pictures you provide is $0.60/digital picture.
For your photo slideshow, the per image price includes editing to create a basic photo slideshow of your digital images at a single, consistent duration of your choosing with fade transitions between photos and an opening title screen.
Above and beyond this editing that comes included, any editing is possible. Do you have a creative idea for how you’d like a photo or set of photos presented in your slideshow production? Our talented video editors can bring your concept to life! Advanced photo editing and slideshow editing $90/hour of editing time.

Enhance your slideshow by adding music, text, narration and more to any Slideshow project:
- Music – Set the mood by adding music to your production:
- Royalty free music adds a nice, nostalgic effect $19.95/per hr, 1 hour minimum.
- Music you provide (on CD or as MP3 files) $9.95/song.
- Music purchased for you online $12.95/song.
- Sound/Voice Over – Have Grandpa narrate your slideshow and we’ll synchronize the recording with your footage. $90/hour of editing time.
- Text Screens: Add a text screen before sections or scenes, or over photos. $4.95/1-5 words, 6+ words or text over a photo $6.95/10 words. Scroll long-format text $90/hour of editing time.
- Mixed Media Editing – Combine photos or slides with video footage for a stunning production. $9.95/video clip. Conversion rates may apply.
- Motion Effect and Custom Transitions: Our most popular effect is our motion effect. We simply add a subtle pan across an image, or slowly zoom in or out. The effect brings the photo to life and dresses up the production. You can add the motion effect to all images or just to a select few, which has the effect of drawing attention to those images. $0.45/photo. Custom effects and transitions are also possible, $90/hour of editing time.
SHARE
One of the benefits of converting your photos to digital and creating a photo slideshow is that you can easily share your production with friends and family.
An extra copy of your slideshow MP4 or your digital photo(s) is just the cost of additional USB drive. We sell reliable, fast drives starting at $16 per drive including loading your file(s). Drive price depends on file size.
If you would like to provide the drives to store your digital files, we’ll load any one drive for free. For each additional drive that you provide, there is just a small loading fee depending on the amount of data. For projects of up to 16g of data the charge is $5.95/drive to load. Loading fees vary by file size.
Our custom USB cases make great gifts and keep your drive(s) safe. Each USB case includes a label with a photo from your project (or that you provide), and a title of your choice. $14.95/case, $9.95/case with purchase of 2+drives, $6.95/case with purchase of 5+drives
If you put your photo slideshow to DVD, copies of discs start at $19.95/disc for DVDs and $29.95/disc for HD/2K projects. Ask about our discounts for multiple copies or copies of multiple discs. Effortlessly share your slideshow multiple times at an event by asking us to loop the playback. Adding a loop $14.95/playable DVD file.
