Then, our in-house team of digitizing, editing, and design experts gets to work. We go beyond a simple template, carefully optimizing each image and page with an eye to every detail. Preparing For Photo Book Appointment
- Decide on the level of service and resolution for each group of photos. Identify groups that could benefit from our basic photo correction. Be sure to indicate photos that might benefit from advanced photo editing and restoration so we can discuss options.
- Select the prints, slides, negatives, digital photos, album pages, documents and other memorabilia you would like in your photo book project. See our Photo Digitizing Services for pricing to convert and edit your media. We highly recommend selecting our Scan + Imaging service and digitizing at a minimum of 600 dpi for book projects. Be sure to indicate items that might benefit from advanced editing and/or restoration so we can discuss options.
- Organize your media into order according to how you would like them to appear in your book. We will follow whatever organization you provide.
- Number phyiscal media on the backs or mounts and number digital images by renaming the files to include a three digit number (001, 002, etc). We can only guarantee the order if individual items are numbered in order by you. Use a pencil or grease pencil to number photos. Avoid numbering with ink or marker that can smudge or copy onto other items.
- Decide on any text or captions. We can scan original book captions, add typed captions to any page or alongside any image, or add documents or pdfs as whole pages of text. You might also consider writing a dedication to include at the start or end of the book.
- Select a title and a cover image. “Richard’s Family Memories”, “Smith Family Through the Years are a couple of examples of titles.
- Think about how many copies you’ll need. We recommend purchasing a digital archive copy on disc or a drive that can be stored for safekeeping.

When you’re ready to get started, pick a location to drop off your media and book an appointment, or simply stop by a location that accepts walk-ins. During your initial appointment, we will gather the details, determine which services best suit your needs, and provide an estimate of cost and timing. If your appointment is via phone, we will make arrangements for you to drop off your media.
